My name is Emily, and I am one of the 2600 staff members here in Jingijamboree, in Sweden, and I am going to show you what we’ve done to prepare for this camp and also for the World Jamboree in 2011.
To prepare for a camp like this takes quite a long time. For instance, this Spring, we were here to dig down the cables for the electricity, the fiberoptic and the phone. We also dug down the water-pipes. So. all of this is going to stay for the World Jamboree in 2011.
Since we did all the preparations this Spring, we are able to use all the electrical equipment that we use at home. We offer internet communications for all our international guests so they can talk to their friends at home. And we also offer wireless communication for all our staff.
A week ago, we were doing preparations for the camp. This is what it looked like.
This camp site is excellent for having big Scout camps. We’ve already tested twice, with more than 20000 participants. And the soil contain almost only sand, so there is never any problem with mud.
Now some of the toilets are here, they are going to supply the 20000 scouts with toilets during the week they are here. No scouts are going have more than 100 meters from his tent to the toilet.
This is one of all the places where you can come and pick up you building materials for building your kitchen table and your sink. That’s the firewood that you can use for your cooking.
Something that’s really important to think about when you plan a big camp like this, is communications: how to travel to the camp. Rinkaby is situated only an hour and a half from the International Airport of Copenhagen in Denmark. You can arrive here by train as well, and we have train stop just 10 minutes away from the camp site. And by bus. We have forty bus stops at bus terminal at the campsite.
At camp this big, it is absolutely necessary to recycle all your garbage. Here, we have five different places for garbage recycling.
Of course, accidents will occur . That’s where we have health centers. At the center, both doctors and nurses are available for your service. Emergency cars and fully equipped ambulances are present at all times at the camp site. If you have to be kept under observation, we have a camp hospital.
In order for everyone to be able to keep their personal health, we offer shower facilities for all participants – ladies on the one side, and gentleman on the other.
And best of all, you can drink the water!
